So after the long, drawn-out transfer saga came to an end, Manchester United fans finally got the chance to see Bruno Fernandes in a Red Devils shirt.
The Portugal international arrived in the final week of the January transfer window for a reported fee of £47m, and was immediately thrust into the starting line-up by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for the visit of Wolves on late Saturday afternoon.
But whilst the midfielder couldn’t drag United to a victory on his debut, he did show plenty of signs of promise.

As per Sofascore, he had a team-high five shots on goal, with many of them coming from outside the box. One moment in the first-half saw his wonderfully struck hit go straight down the throat of Rui Patricio, and he was otherwise unlucky not to get himself on the score-sheet.
The former Sporting CP man also had 111 touches, with only Aaron Wan-Bissaka having more out of the two sides, whilst he successfully completed five out of his 11 attempted long balls. After seeing his display, United fans took to Twitter to voice their thoughts on their new signing.
A couple of United supporters took to imagining what a midfield could look like when they have all their options available, and seemed excited at the prospect of Fernandes playing alongside the likes of Paul Pogba, Scott McTominay and Marcus Rashford.
One fan in particular meanwhile insisted that considering Fernandes only joined up very late with the team, it was an impressive performance from the midfielder, and that he simply needs time to settle in.
As debuts go, it wasn’t the best in the world, and neither was it the worst. Not many would have expected for Fernandes to come straight into the starting line-up and start delivering the goods immediately.
The Red Devils will simply have to be patient with their new big-money signing, and his willingness to embrace the responsibility and strike numerous shots from distance to breach the Wolves defence, showed he is intent on being a leader on the pitch.
