Real Madrid have been urged to address the soaring temperatures at Santiago Bernabeu after complaints were made about it being "like a sauna". Los Blancos cruised to a 2-0 home win over Espanyol on Saturday but grumblings are mounting about the "greenhouse effect" in the stadium. Some have even accused the Spanish giants of "taking advantage" of the situation.
Real Madrid fans concerned about Bernabeu 'sauna'
According to football commentator Manolo Loma, Madrid's ground was like a "sauna" when the roof was closed in their La Liga win over Espanyol. And more reports suggest that this led to a "greenhouse effect" at the ground, in addition to older Madrid supporters complaining about the heat and humidity as a result.

Spanish Journalist Miguel Ruiz said: "I am going to emphasise one detail. It’s very hot at the Santiago Bernabéu, the roof is closed and in the 10th minute of the second half, taking advantage of an issue with [Kylian] Mbappé, the whole team went to the bench to drink water and hydrate."
Real Madrid stadium concerns continue
In addition to this heat issue, Madrid have had soundproofing problems at the Bernabeu for the best part of a year, stopping them from hosting concerts – which would be a nice income stream. Incidentally, the decision to close the roof is said to create a better atmosphere. But if fans continue to complain about the heat, that may force club president Florentino Perez into a rethink.
