There have been some great transfer bargains over the summer, deals that teams have done really well to eke out, with players that will add something valuable to the side and not cost the earth. The likes of Charles N’Zogbia, Roger Johnson and Craig Gardner have been recruited for fees that are justified by their talents, and may even prove to be absolute bargains over the course of the season. In particular these players look like steals when you compare the amount of money other sides have spent on players of similar quality.
With the end of the transfer window fast approaching, there are still a few bargains out there to be had as clubs look to finalise their squads for the season ahead. As we near the beginning of the season, the prices for want-away or players not needed are likely to drop day by day, as clubs seek to thin out their squads and get rid of players they see as surplus to requirements. There is nothing worse than being stuck with an unwanted player, or a player who has expressed his desire to leave, so clubs are likely to do all they can, including severely dropping their estimations of a player, in order to move the player on before the window closes.
We have seen great late deals and bargains in the last few weeks of transfer windows before, and it seems this year will be no exception. With the massive squads at a number of clubs, there seems as if there arestill a lot of players out there to be had, and some will come at a relative snip compared to how much others are going for in this inflated market.
