Although Couto's trip to the Santiago Bernabeu earlier in the season ended in disappointment as Vinicius Jr. proved too hot to handle for him in Girona's 4-0 defeat, the right-back has bounced back admirably in the subsequent matches, showcasing his resilience and talent on the field. With one goal and eight assists in 28 league appearances, his contributions have been pivotal to Girona's campaign, as they strive to secure a historic spot in the UEFA Champions League by finishing in the top four.

However, Couto's future remains uncertain, given that his contract with City is set to expire in 2025. He is currently on a two-year loan deal at Estadi Montilivi which is set to end in the summer and it remains to be seen if City choose to cash in on him during the next transfer window as they might consider him surplus to requirements at the Etihad.

In response to inquiries about a potential move to Real Madrid, Couto told , "Yes yes. If they are interested it is an option, I will not lie to you.”
However, he was quick to add: "I am a City player, I have a contract there and I dream of playing for City."
