A formal investigation has been opened up against Barcelona over alleged corruption after it was revealed they made payments to firms owned by former vice-president of the Spanish Football Federation's (RFEF) refereeing committee Jose Maria Enriquez Negreira.

Barcelona boss Xavi insists his side were not given preferable treatment by referees in spite of the payments, but his Madrid counterpart Ancelotti has concerns about the case and hopes that a solution can be reached.

"On this issue, I am worried, like the entire football world about such a serious matter. Justice is working on this and we have to let them work," he said at a press conference.
"I have lived in this world of football for 40 years and when these types of issues happen it worries us all. I hope that justice can do its job and reach a solution."
