Araujo and De Jong hold the second and third captaincies at Barcelona, but the pair are keeping their cards close to their chest. Araujo has not yet confirmed he is willing to stay, despite multiple meetings to convince him to sign a new deal amid interest from Bayern Munich, while De Jong has had an offer on the table since November of 2023 but is yet to sign it.

Both De Jong and Araujo have contracts that expire in 2026 and if neither are willing to commit their futures to the club, Barcelona may be minded to sell them next summer. Deals to sign Kimmich and Tah are dependent on the pair leaving.
